Here at East Midland Coatings, we pride ourselves on solving problems across multiple industries. One of the main industries that we supply coatings to is industrial bakeware. This can vary from frying pans, baking trays and waffle plates up to much larger components such as food chutes, hoppers and rollers. Having coated these types of parts for almost 40 years now, we consider ourselves the coating system experts. Therefore, we are able to offer our professional advice for whatever the end use.
Is Teflon the best non-stick coating?
To answer the question if a particular coating brand such as Teflon® is ‘the best’ is not as black and white as the question may seem. We offer hundreds of different release coatings that are each formulated differently to cope with a variety of environments. For instance, particular coatings offer superior release against certain substances. In addition, in specific environments, temperature or coating thickness may be a crucial factor.
Use Our Expertise in Choosing the Right Coating System
Utilising coating systems with success over the years such as Teflon®, Xylan®, Excellube, Ilag® and Greblon® has provided us with knowledge and expertise to recommend and tailor the best possible finish for the job. Considering the plethora of coatings available to us, we are sure to solve the problem in the quickest and most cost-effective way.
PTFE, FEP or PFA?
On a molecular level, the formulation of our coatings varies. PolyTetraFluoroEthylene (PTFE) is considered the ‘go to’ for release coatings. However, FEP and PFA finishes are also very effective. The concentration of PTFE can also fluctuate between coating designs, particularly with multi coat systems in that some finishes may contain a higher concentration at the surface, such as Xylan XLR® or Excellube NS17.
Avoiding Machinery Down Time
We also understand the need to limit machinery down time in the industry. One day of down time for food manufacturers who may operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week can be hugely detrimental. We always listen to our customers’ requirements and will do our best to facilitate, when possible, quick lead times to get machinery up and running as soon as possible.
Can parts be re-coated?
Absolutely. The ultimate aim is to create a coating that stand the test of time. However, usage may be so high that the parts, whatever they may be, will need re-coating. We offer a strip and re-coat service to refresh your coating and get the parts looking brand new. Minimising both wastage and cost at the same time.
Availability of finishes
In recent times, the availability of certain finishes has been limited. However, here at East Midland Coatings we monitor our stock levels to ensure product is readily available and the number and volume of coatings we stock here is fit to suit. This, coupled with the fact that Xylan® and Excellube are made in the UK, ensures that our coatings are as available as possible.
